IRC
From EGN Wiki
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat.
IRC is a simply, efficient, text based communication method that has been in use since the Internet first started. Even today, with MSN, AIM, ICQ, and so on, IRC still has a popular user base.
EGN has an IRC channel called #egn on the IRC Network" Gamesurge.
IRC is used by various sorts of PUG bots to manage interested players.
Firefox Also has a IRC chat add-on called Chatzilla, that is fast, clean and easily setup.
Another nice web-based IRC client for those on the run (IE: work/school/home/other) Mibbit Client is a very feature rich web-based IRC client. Can also be embedded within a page on your own site to customise it's look and feel and made to connect to whichever IRC server you desire.
EGN administrator CyberCitizen has packaged mIRC & NetTalk & made them portable. Both these applications have all the EGN settings pre-configured.
