Code of Conduct
From EGN Wiki
EGN (EFTel Games Network) provides online games, voice and file servers hosted in Australia, that promote a friendly, fun and fair environment for everyone. From time to time there can be people who will try to ruin the gaming experience. In this instance, these persons may be kicked or in some cases banned (permanently), via manual or automated means. Please remember that it is your responsibility to secure all access to games on your computer so that others do not cheat on your account and lead to a ban.
If your Unique ID, CD Key or Account is banned for cheating etc by a person other than yourself (stolen, hijacked etc), the ban will not be removed, period.

Public Code of Conduct for Players
Below is an incomplete list of the sorts of conduct that is unacceptable on EGN's servers, which can and will result in a temporary or permanent ban:
- Impersonating or abuse of EGN administrators - this includes racist remarks, swearing, baiting or using their aliases, real names, or other references.
- Bulk messaging in-game (otherwise known as spam).
- Swearing, racist remarks or making discriminatory comments (including gender or sexual persuasion based). This includes using offensive language (either in text or audio chat, in your player name or with a spray image).
- Excessive use of in-game voice communication features, to speak or broadcast music (Does not matter if others wish to hear it).
- Excessive use of in-game features unnecessarily, such as flashing your own team members. No more than "1" HE Grenade, "2" Flashbangs and "1" Smoke Grenade are to be purchased each round or deliberately blocking a narrow doorway.
- Use of third party applications or in-game commands to an advantage (unfair or not), also known as Cheating or Hacking or walling etc.
- Behavior which effects the natural style of the game, such as Camping or Team Killing - i.e. CT objective is to save the hostages, CT's should not be camping and or refusing to Defuse the bomb, T's should be planting the bomb and or Stopping the CT's from rescuing the hostages.
- Abusing map bugs and/or game glitches, such as sky walking, silent planting, illegal defuse of the bomb etc.
- Using what is called a Setname to try and make yourself un-mutable etc will result in a Permanent Ban.
- Using any of the ban on sight names in any way will result in the person been Permanently banned, these names can be found in the Cheating section.
- Ban evasion. This is when someone has either had a temp ban or a perm ban placed, they then come back using a different steamid/account. This will result in a Permanent ban placed on the offender.
There are other things which will fall into the category of unacceptable conduct and they will be up to the discretion of the Admin who is present at the time to decide on as they occur. Generally speaking, common sense prevails and should be used by all that play on the EGN Servers - if you feel you need to ask if something is acceptable conduct or not, then it probably isn’t. If still unsure please ask an EGN Admin. Once the reply is given, do not argue about it. If you are still not happy with the reply, email support@egn.com.au for a clearer explanation.
Admin Code of Conduct & Moderator Guidelines
All EGN Server Administrators are to act in a professional and courteous manner to all players. Like the public code of conduct above, Administrator/moderators will also follow a set of rules as outlined below. If Administrators break these rules, they will be warned and in extreme circumstances lose their privileges.
The Commandments of an EGN Administrator
- All Administrators must be active on both gaming servers as well as the EGN forums.
- All bans must be entered into the database and all bans must have a demo/evidence attached or on file (which can be requested at any point in time). Bans must be made through the ban system in the administrator area or it will not be processed. If a ban in the database has no evidence/demo to support it (unless it is MeoW, myg0t, project7, unconnected, TheAdventureclub clan(CS Only), .:d4K:. (CS Only) & Japs)it will be lifted. Repeat offenders Require a demo to support the ban. Failure to enter a ban into the ban data base will result in a warning.
- Ban evasion from here on are to be classed as ban on sight.
- All EGN Administrators must conduct themselves in a professional manner while on the servers and forums of EGN. You are representing the image and brand of EGN, Administrators who act with immaturity will earn themselves a warning, or in severe circumstances, removal of all privileges.
- Do not at any point bait anyone on any of the EGN servers or on the forums, it will not be tolerated. If you are caught doing this you will earn a warning or in severe cases removal of your privileges.
- At no time is any Administrator to have any form of cheats installed on their computer or be part of a cheating community. The only exception will be with prior approval or discussed with a member of the EGN Management Team. Failure to observe this rule will lead to a warning or removal of administrator privileges.
- All EGN Administrators are to be at least 17 years of age.
- Servers should never be passworded. Exceptions to this rule are:
- If the server is a dedicated war, pug or competition server.
- If you have written permission (dated) from EGN Management.
- In the instance that servers are to be locked, all players on the server should be notified 10 minutes before they are kicked.
- Avoid manually performing a ‘changelevel’ on a public server - instead call an 'admin_vote_map <map>' command or tell the players to vote the map in. Only change the map when there is adequate votes. This also includes other settings other than default.
- Banning a player should be executed when the player’s behavior ruins the experience for other players, i.e. breaking the rules in the Public Code of Conduct for Players.
- All EGN Administrators will need to notify Management if they are inactive for a period longer than two weeks. This way when it comes time to see who is still active, they do not end up loosing their privileges.
- Only Management Administrators can unban players. Any Administrators found to be removing bans via the servers (regardless if they are trying to fix a mistaken ban or if the ban has expired) will receive a warning. Various stats generators run for the EGN Servers can provide any information needed on player activities and the like. If actual log data is required, please email your requests to support[at]egn.com.au.
- Never comment negatively in public about other games networks or communities. EGN is on good terms with the other games networks, communities and we do not want this to change.
- Never ‘spam’ the servers with rcon say commands. Do not assume the players are stupid, say it once or at most – twice.
- All Administrators should read and understand the EGN Public Code of Conduct. If these rules are broken, you have every right to exercise a kick, ban or warning within reason. These rules also apply to all EGN Admins.
- All pre-caution should be taken when executing rcon commands. It is very easy to execute the wrong <rcon-server>.cfg in game, or in HLSW. A good method for confirming which server you are on, is to perform a ‘rcon status’ command.
- Any Admin/Admins that fail to report in, when a thread is made asking just that, and once the specified day and time has expired, will have all privileges removed. (Unless they have notified the HR, AM & BM Management Admin prior).
- Admins can still loose their privileges even after they have reported in due to lack of activity on either the servers, forums or both.
- Any Administrator banned for cheating in another network will have their administration privileges removed.
- Any Admin found breaking the rules that are set in the Public Code of Conduct for Players will have their privileges removed, no exceptions and no excuses.
- These names are considered ban on sight (MeoW, snafu, myg0t, project7, unconnected, TheAdventureclub clan(CS Only), .:d4K:. (CS Only) & Japs). If any admin does see anyone using any of these names in someones gaming name in any way, shape or form, they are to be Permanently Banned. The same goes for anyone that deliberately crashes any of the EGN Servers. .
- At no point are any Admins to inform any gamer as to the reason of any gamer been banned, the details relating to a ban, or who the Admin was that placed the ban. All gamers are to be advised to fill out a ban enquiry form and wait for a reply. Any Admin that is found telling a gamer who has banned them etc will get their privileges removed.
- If any Administrators have any queries regarding these rules please email/contact any one of the EGN Management team. Once you have been given a reply to your question, do not argue or turn it into an argument. Logically, if you have to ask if it is acceptable then it most likely is not.
EGN Forum Moderator Guidelines
A handful of administrators will have Forum Moderator privileges - please make sure to abide by the rules below,
- If the thread is spam (i.e. URL's in their first post, unrelated material, inappropriate material), delete the whole post/thread.
- Try to avoid editing other people's posts; we prefer not to censor posts as people are entitled to their opinions and we at EGN promote free speech. If a post is edited, please input a reason for your edit.
- If people have ban enquiries/abuse reports, kindly suggest they use the specific support tool (linking it), and then close the topic. If they continue to post repeat topics, get in touch with a Management Admin, and their account will be disabled.
- If the situation is too difficult or you are not sure please inform Management.
- If you come across unlinked links in posts, you're encouraged to edit the post, and properly link the unlinked link.
Reporting Unacceptable Conduct
If you find other players (this includes Admins) ruining the gaming experience, you are encouraged to report this via the Report Abuse/Cheating Form with appropriate evidence. Even EGN Admins are required to abide by the Public Code of Conduct for Players.
Penalties
The only form of unacceptable conduct where no discretion is involved is cheating. If you are caught, you will be banned permanently. There will be no exceptions to this rule. For other offenses, the Admin assessing your conduct will determine an appropriate punishment. This can either be a warning or a kick/ban on the spot - depending on the severity of the offense. If rules are repeatedly broken a permanent ban will be issued. EGN works on a three strike rule, once a person is about to receive a third ban, that person will be Permanently banned from the servers. The only times the three strike rule does not apply is obviously cheating and a gamer that continually abuses/baits an EGN Admin.
Ban Enquiry
If you find yourself banned from the EGN servers, and are unsure why, please complete a Ban Enquiry form. With-in 24-48 hours, an EGN Management Administrator will reply to your enquiry. Please be patient if it takes longer than 24-48hrs to reply to your Enquiry. Do not make threads on the forums asking for your ban to be reviewed etc, it will only result in the thread been removed.
All gamers are to fill out a ban enquiry form and wait for a reply. Do not ask an Admin to find out the reason for the ban or how long the ban is or who the Admin was that banned them or a different gamer.
Note: An Admin will NEVER request your CD key or Account Password. Your CD key is not your Unique ID/STEAM ID. Your CD key should never be given out to any EGN Admin or player under any circumstances. If you do get asked for your CD Ket or Account Password from an EGN Admin, you are encouraged to email support with the Admins name etc that has asked for this information so Management can deal with the situation.
